The Iron County annual first responders luncheon sponsored by the Iron County Board of Realtors and the Cedar City Area Chamber of Commerce
Thursday, July 11 from 11-1 p.m. at the Main Street Park Pavillion. All proceeds will go to the Friends of the Iron County Sheriff to support the I.G.N.I.T.E program.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office recently introduced the IGNITE Program which stands for Inmate Growth Naturally & Intentionally Through Education. The purpose of this program is to help inmates gain education and skills that will help them find work after they’ve been released and reduce the amount of recidivism. This program is supported by private donations and does not place an additional burden on the taxpayers.
IGNITE Program donations are tax deductible and can be contributed via cash, check, or credit card. Please make checks payable to: Friends of the Iron County Sheriff.

About
Founded in 2022, the purpose of the Friends of the Iron County Sheriff is to raise funds for unforeseen needs identified by the sheriff above and beyond the Sheriff's Office's annual budget. From special training and equipment, to personal needs of injured or ill deputies, to scholarships for families of fallen deputies, the Friends of the Iron County Sheriff exists so ordinary citizens of our county can assist those who protect us all.
Our Sheriff
Kenneth Carpenter
Ken Carpenter was born in Utah and raised in Utah and Colorado. He attended college at Utah Technical College Provo/Orem where he met his wife of 35 years, the former Stacey Eads. After receiving an Associate’s degree from UTC, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was selected for a commissioning program and returned to Utah to attend the University of Utah. Here he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with an International Relations Certificate and received his commission. After receiving his commission, he served as a military police platoon commander and assistant operations officer at Camp Lejeune, NC. He then served as Guard Officer at the Marine Corps Security Force Company in London, England. Upon returning to the United States, he served as Provost Marshal and Company Commander for Headquarters and Service Company at Headquarters Marine Corps in Arlington, VA. He was then transferred to Quantico, VA for Amphibious Warfare School where he was selected for Major. Upon completion of Amphibious Warfare School, he was transferred to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar where he served as Provost Marshal for the III Marine Aircraft Wing and Deputy Provost Marshal for Commander Air Bases Western Area. While at Miramar, he was selected to attend the 205th session of the FBI National Academy. Upon completion of the FBI NA he took over duties as Provost Marshal at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot/Western Recruiting Region, San Diego where he retired after 20 years of Marine Corps Service.
Upon retiring from the Marine Corps, Ken took a position as a patrol Officer with Cedar City Police Department. While at Cedar City Police Department he served as a patrol officer, bike patrol, School Resource Officer and initiated the active shooter response training for officers and deputies in Iron County. After seven and a half years’ service at CCPD, Ken was selected as Chief of Police for Parowan City Police Department. While here, Ken served as Commander for the Iron Metro SWAT Team and was selected as a member of the International Association Chiefs of Police Patrol and Tactical Operations Committee, posts he continues to hold. Ken was elected Sheriff during the 2018 election cycle and became Iron County Sheriff on January 2, 2019.
Ken and Stacey are the parents of four sons, three daughters-in-law, and one granddaughter.

Because the Sheriff is an elected office, he is the chief public safety official in the county. From Patrol, Corrections, Adult Probation and Parole, to Search and Rescue and Air Operations, the Iron County Sheriff protects and serves each resident daily. The Friends of the Iron County Sheriff is registered with the IRS as a 501(C)(3) Tax Exempt organization and any contribution you make is tax deductible. Funds will be used to meet needs identified by the County Sheriff.
